The Winnipeg Jets have placed rookie defenseman Jacob Trouba on injured reserve with a neck sprain that will keep him out at least two weeks. Winnipeg has called up defenseman Adam Pardy from the St John's IceCaps of the AHL fill Trouba's roster spot.

Trouba was carried off the ice on a stretcher during Friday’s game against St. Louis.

Trouba suffered the injury on Friday when he went face-first into the boards after getting tangled up with Blues defenseman Jordan Leopold's skate during a dump-and-chase. After laying on the ice for a few minutes, Trouba was helped off on a stretcher.
As scary as the injury was to watch, Jets coach Claude Noel said after the game that Trouba’s injury was not as bad as it looked.Trouba even poked fun at himself on Twitter on Friday night, another indication that the 19-year-old was going to be fine. He showed up to sign autographs and speak to reporters at practice on Saturday morning, where he confirmed he’d miss the next few weeks.

He was the third player this week to be carried off on a stretcher after Dan Boyle and Niklas Kronwall both were incapacitated by hits from behind. Maxime Lapierre was given a five-game suspension for his hit on Boyle on Tuesday night, and Cody McLeod will meet with the NHL to receive a suspension for his hit on Kronwall on Thursday.
Trouba has registered two points through eight games this season in Winnipeg.
