The moment many Stars fans have been waiting for is here. Dallas rookie goaltender Jack Campbell will get his first career start on Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks, according to the Dallas Morning News' Mike Heika.

The eleventh overall pick in 2010 is getting his first start on Sunday.

With Kari Lehtonen on injured reserve and the Stars playing the second game of a back-to-back, the perfect storm had to happen to let Campbell get the call on Sunday. Dan Ellis had started the previous five games for the Stars.
Campbell was drafted eleventh overall by the Stars in the 2010 NHL Draft. While he hasn't made a start in the NHL up until now, Campbell has spent the last couple of years earning playing time with the Texas Stars of the AHL. Last season, Campbell went 19-3-3 and posted a 2.65 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. Campbell has struggled throughout his young career with his high motor. Usually a strength, Campbell's competitiveness has led to him being almost too intense, especially when he struggles on the ice. Stars' goalie coach Mike Valley told the DMN that Campbell has been improving in that area.
“He’s extremely athletic, and we want him to use that, but we also want him to be in position and let his technique allow him to use his athleticism,” said goalie coach Mike Valley. “He’s come a long way in staying calm and staying on an even keel, and we think that makes him a better goalie.”
He’ll face a stiff test on Sunday, as the visiting Anaheim Ducks have won their last six games.
