Jets vs. Ducks: Teemu Selanne receives standing ovation in Winnipeg

The Jets faithful gave one heck of a sendoff.

In his final game in Winnipeg, Jets fans made sure Teemu Selanne will never forget his roots.

Selanne, who is retiring after this season after a Hall of Fame career, spent his first three seasons in Winnipeg. The Jets didn’t waste any time in honoring the future Hall of Famer, dedicating the first TV timeout to Selanne. Instead of a lengthy video tribute, the team merely thanked Selanne for the memories and let the crowd do the rest.

We all knew it was coming, but that didn’t make the moment any less special. All 18,000 or so fans in MTS Arena roared their appreciation for a solid minute before play resumed.

Expecting tears? Please. The Finnish Flash is too cool for tears. The actual Jets players don't seem to be as sentimental as the fans, as Winnipeg leads the Ducks 2-1 after one period.
