Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp stated that he will miss a regular season contest in order to be in attendance for the birth of his second child, according to Chris Kuc of The Chicago Tribune.

Patrick Sharp is expecting a new addition to his family sometime next week and he will miss a game to be in attendance for the occasion.

Kuc writes that the baby is due sometime next week and that Sharp will leave the team once his wife goes into labor, via the Chicago Tribune:
“I plan on being there for my wife and family,” Sharp said Monday. “Sometimes you get messed up with flights and that stuff, but I plan on missing a game if I have to.”
The Blackhawks are about to embark on a stretch where the team plays six games in 11 nights, which increases the odds that the child will be born on a game night. After a two-game home stand this weekend, the team travels to Carolina on Tuesday, before returning to Chicago for home games on Tuesday and Thursday, before traveling to Florida for two games the following week.
“It all depends on logistics,” Sharp said. “If I can get back in time and it makes sense to leave, I will. I don’t want to miss a game, but (I will if needed).”
