San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his hit on Rick Nash.

The incident occurred at the 2:32 mark of the first period when Stuart hit Nash in the head with his elbow and was assessed a two-minute minor for elbowing. Nash played seven more shifts after the hit, but was unable to return to the contest after the first intermission. In total, the forward registered 5:53 of ice time over the span of nine shifts.
Nash was available to the media after the game and stated that he has a headache, via BlueShirtsUnited.com:
“I have a headache. It got worse. It was a headshot. I’m concerned the way it feels... You’re concerned anytime there’s a headshot.”
Nash sustained a concussion during the 2013 season after a hit from Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic in February. He was able to play in two games after the incident before missing four games due to the injury.
The NHL announced via press release that Stuart will be evaluated for supplemental discipline based on an illegal check to the head.
