George Parros injury: Canadiens F nearly symptom free, says GM

Marc Bergevin says George Parros is almost completely symptom free after suffering a concussion a week ago.

Montreal Canadiens forward George Parros is almost completely symptom free, manager Marc Bergevin told Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette.

Parros sustained a concussion during a fight with Toronto Maple Leafs forward Colton Orr, when Parros hit his chin on the ice during Montreal's opening night contest. Parros was removed via stretcher and underwent further testing, which came back negative.

Bergevin told Stubbs that the Canadiens are in no hurry to rush Parros back, noting that concussion recovery is a delicate process. As past instances have shown, the remission of symptoms doesn’t mean they can’t resurface under varying circumstances, especially strenuous situations such as intense exertion. That’s why the Canadiens’ decision to gradually monitor the situation is a wise one.

Ultimately, it’s a positive development to hear that Parros is making progress in his recovery. Hopefully, it’s the first of many positive steps.
