Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon is making good on his promise to change the atmosphere in his locker room, sending goalie Jacob Markstrom down to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL.
Panthers send Jacob Markstrom to AHL after dismal start
GM Dale Tallon is shaking things up in Florida.

Markstrom has long been considered the goalie of the future for the Panthers, but he has struggled mightily this season with a 1-5-3 record. His .877 save percentage and 3.36 goals against average are among the worst stats for a goalie this season. Scott Clemmensen and Tim Thomas will now rotate starts in net for the Panthers.
His team certainly hasn’t done Markstrom any favors this season, but his overall record of 11-24-5 in the NHL suggests the 23-year-old still has a lot of work to do before he’s ready for a starting NHL job.
The demotion is just the latest move by Tallon to try and change the losing culture in the Panthers locker room. Tallon fired head coach Kevin Dineen and the rest of the coaching staff last week, and Tallon told the media the firing was “just the beginning” of the changes coming to the Panthers. The veterans were put on notice, and so too, it seems were the young players like Markstrom.
