    The docket for the NHL’s general managers meeting on Tuesday will be lengthy, according to reports. The league’s managers will gather in Toronto to discuss a varying degree of topics that broach issues ranging from social to functional.

    In addition, the league will draw influence from the NFL as the managers are expected to discuss bullying. It’s not believed the NHL has any problems with bullying at this time, but it seems the league wants to make sure it stays that way.

    Check out the NHL attempting to proactively jump ahead of the curve. With the NFL dealing with a whole slew of issues lately, the most recent topic of interest is bullying in the locker room.

    Renaud Lavoie of The Montreal Hockey Journal is reporting the NHL’s managers will discuss the topic at Wednesday’s general managers meeting. The decision to do so is to avoid any potential issues that are presently being alleged in the NFL, which is specifically involving Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito and the Miami Dolphins. According to reports, Martin was bullied by Incognito and the NFL has launched an investigation to determine what happened.

    Specifically, it will be the so-called Ray Emery rule that is the likely talking point.

    Almost immediately after Emery raced the length of the ice to fight an unwilling combatant in a 7-0 blowout loss earlier this month, the possibility of severe punishments for goalies who leave their area to fight was brought up. Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press initially reported that the league would consider implementing an automatic 10-game suspension for goalies who leave their zone, similar to the punishment players get for leaving the bench to join an altercation.
