The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Andrew Shaw to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon. Shaw was entering the final year of his entry-level contract and would have been a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season.

Shaw has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Shaw’s new agreement will carry an annual average value of $2 million against the salary cap, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN. Based upon detailed research and complex calculations, the deal will pay Shaw a total of $4 million. The contract will conclude following the 2015-16 season.
The 22-year-old forward has played in 103 regular-season games and has collected 49 points (25 goals, 24 assists) while averaging 15:15 of ice-time per game. In 23 postseason games last season, Shaw registered nine points (five goals, four assists) and collected several stitches in helping the Blackhawks win their second Stanley Cup in four seasons.
