Jonathan Quick was diagnosed with a Grade 2 groin strain and will miss an indefinite period of time. This means Scrivens will be tasked with taking over in his absence. In five appearances this season, Scrivens has registered a .924 save percentage with a 1.89 goals against average.
2. Is the West the best?
The Anaheim Ducks will face the Tampa Bay Lightning in a meeting of conference leaders. Anaheim has the most points in the NHL, while Tampa Bay enters the evening with the most points in the East. The only problem is the Lightning will be without Steven Stamkos, while the Ducks might be without Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf.
3. Will the Colorado Avalanche lose a second consecutive game?
They haven't yet, but the potential is there on Thursday night. Coming off a loss to Carolina on Tuesday, the Avalanche will face the formidable St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
4. Will the Vancouver Canucks begin their six-game home stand with a win?
Vancouver hosts the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, which will mark the first game of a season-long home stand. The Canucks are coming off a four-game road trip that saw the team lose three of four. The lone win? Against the Sharks.
5. Will the Dallas Stars continue to build on their success in November?
Dallas has registered points in five of six games in November and has collected wins in four of its last five. Coming off a 3-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, the Stars will try to continue that success against the Calgary Flames on Thursday.
