Semin didn’t return to the game after the injury.

The Carolina Hurricanes lost one of their most dynamic scorers on Saturday, as Alexander Semin suffered an upper-body injury after taking a hit from St. Louis Blues forward Alex Pietrangelo.

Pietrangelo delivered a strong, yet solid, hit on Semin early in the game that left the Canes forward on the ice for several minutes while trainers spoke with him.

Semin finally made his way to the locker room and didn’t return to the game. The Hurricanes confirmed he had an upper-body injury during the third period. Considering how long he remained on the ice and the severity of both the hit and fall, you’d have to assume he suffered a concussion. However, the Hurricanes aren’t releasing any specifics yet.

Semin has just three goals and nine points through 19 games this season.
