San Jose Sharks forward Brent Burns made headlines last year when he returned from the NHL lockout looking like one of the Geico cavemen.
Brent Burns shaves beard, raises $23K for charity
Burns gave up his wild man persona for a good cause.

His run as the NHL’s King of Beards ended on Friday. Burns shaved both his head and face to raise $23,403 for the Defending The Blue Line charity and the Katie Moore Foundation.
Defending The Blue Line helps provide hockey gear and other hockey expenses to children with parents in the armed services. The Katie Moore Foundation, named after the late wife of former New York Rangers player Dominic Moore, is dedicated to fighting rare cancers.
Burns had some help from teammates Adam Burish, Jason Demers and James Sheppard. To the surprise of everyone, there was a face underneath all that mangy fur.

Props to Burns for contributing to two great causes in such a neat way. And let’s be honest, it’ll all grow back by playoff time. If you’re into watching grown men shave their beards, you can watch the whole thing below.
