Devils vs. Flyers: Anton Volchenkov crashes into the net

Maybe skating just isn’t his thing.

Anton Volchenkov probably wanted to press the restart button on Saturday. The New Jersey Devils defenseman had a miserable start to the game against the Philadelphia Flyers, racking up a penalty and all sorts of misadventures in his own end of the ice.

His biggest problem seemed to be staying on his feet. Volchenkov’s worst tumble came in the second period. He slipped while backchecking in his own zone, getting up to his knees just in time to hit the post face-first.

Ouch. Luckily he was alright. The Flyers lead the Devils 1-0 in the second period.
