Dave Bolland injury: Leafs forward suffers leg laceration after hit from Zack Kassian
The play was eerily similar to Erik Karlsson’s injury last season.

Bolland suffered the injury when Canucks forward Zack Kassian checked him along the boards midway through the second period.
As you can see from this picture, it certainly looks like Kassian's skate blade sliced the back of Bolland's ankle. Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson was injured during a similar play last season, and he missed the rest of the regular season with a torn achilles tendon. The Leafs, already without Tyler Bozak for a few weeks, can only hope Bolland's injury isn't as serious.
UPDATE: It is that serious.
Randy Carlyle says David Bolland's cut is similar to the Erik Karlsson injury. He'll have surgery tonight.
