The sputtering Detroit Red Wings will be without one of their best players on Sunday in Buffalo, as center Pavel Datsyuk did not travel with the team after taking an elbow to the head on Saturday, according to Helene St. James of USA Today Sports.
Pavel Datsyuk injury: Red Wings center will miss Sabres game after elbowing incident
Datsyuk was injured from an unpenalized elbow from Jared Cowen on Saturday.

Datsyuk, Detroit's leading scorer this season, suffered a possible concussion when Ottawa Senators defenseman Jared Cowen elbowed him in the head late in the third period. The incident occurred away from the puck, but no officials penalized Cowen for the play. Datsyuk remained on the ice for a short time while he regained his senses.

Although he didn’t travel with the team, Datsyuk let fans know that he wouldn’t be out of the lineup very long.
Thank You very much for your well wishes. I doing am ok. Hoping to be back in the lineup very soon. Best wishes to all! Go #wings
— Pavel Datsyuk (@Datsyuk13) November 24, 2013 That’s good news for the Red Wings, who are struggling mightily this month. They have just 10 wins in 24 games this season and have relied on Datsyuk for 20 percent of their goals.
