What a difference two days can make, as the Florida Panthers have fired head coach Kevin Dineen and his entire coaching staff, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald on Friday morning.

The decision comes after manager Dale Tallon told Richards that Dineen and his coaches, Craig Ramsay and Gord Murphy, were safe while forecasting that changes were coming, via the Miami Herald:

Panthers management had a late night meeting following Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton at the BB&T Center with GM Dale Tallon telling the Miami Herald the team would not be making a coaching change at this time.

“There will be changes though,” Tallon said outside the arena. “I don’t make rash decisions. None of us are happy. I have to fix this and I will. We’re better than this.”

The decision comes hours after the Panthers lost to the Boston Bruins, 4-1. The loss marks the seventh consecutive contest where the Panthers have gone without a win. Richards reports that San Antonio Rampage coach Peter Horachek will immediately take over as the Panthers coach and will be holding practice in Ottawa on Friday. Horachek's staff will consist of assistants John Madden and Brian Skrudland.
