Back in the preseason Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian was guilty of a terrible high-sticking penalty that broke the jaw of Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner.
Did Zack Kassian mock Sam Gagner’s face shield?
Is this Zack Kassian mocking the face shield that Sam Gagner has to wear because Zack Kassian broke his jaw? That’s what it looks like.
Kassian ended up sitting out the first five regular season games with a suspension, while Gagner missed the first month of the season and had to wear a protective face shield when he returned to the lineup.
On Friday night the teams faced off in Vancouver, and during a scrum in the third period Kassian seemed to asking Gagner about his face shield. You know … the one that Gagner has to wear because Kassian bashed him in the face with a stick.
Oh no. No. No. No. No. That’s not good.
And the reaction was pretty much exactly what you might expect.
Kassian mocking Gagner was bush league. That high stick was one of dumbest plays you’ll ever see. Zero remorse, embarrassed himself tonite
— Ryan Rishaug (@TSNRyanRishaug) December 14, 2013 Pretty classless by Kassian to motion to his chin and say "what is this" to Gagner referencing the broken jaw Kassian gave him with a stick.
— Jason Gregor (@JasonGregor) December 14, 2013 Kassian is a joke. Classless.
— Dustin Nielson (@nielsonTSN1260) December 14, 2013 Just in case you needed a refresher, this was the play from the preseason that broke Gagner’s jaw.
