Seymon Varlamov assault charges dropped

After the incident occurred, Varlamov was released on $5,000 bail, and had been playing with the Avalanche ever since. But questions had been raised about his status for the upcoming Olympics that will be played in his home country. But with these charges now reportedly dismissed, there’s little doubt Varlamov will suit up for Team Russia come February.

Varlamov has had a stellar season for Colorado, posting a 16-8-1 record next to a .924 save percentage and a 2.37 goals against. For a short while, there were questions as to how this case would affect his NHL and Olympics status.

But on Friday, a Denver judge dismissed the case after the district attorney’s office motioned to have it thrown out, citing an inability to prove the case at trial. A spokeswoman for the DA’s office said they could not gather proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
