Frozen Fenway to debut ‘Look Up Line’ to reduce spinal injuries

Gimmick or great idea?

With the NHL experiencing a rash of concussion-related injuries this season, player safety is once again a major talking point lately. Citi Frozen Fenway might have a possible solution.

The ice at the annual event in the home of the Boston Red Sox will feature an interesting twist.

It seems the idea here is similar to the warning track in baseball. When players approach the line they’ll theoretically remember to raise their heads to avoid a serious injury. It’ll be interesting to see this in action in January, and whether it will be effective or generally ignored by players.
