Alexander Steen's impressive season is coming to a sudden halt, as St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday that the winger is out indefinitely with a concussion.

The news ends a week of speculation about the severity of Steen’s injury. Steen exited the Blues’ 6-0 win in Edmonton a week ago and hasn’t been seen since. Armstrong said the injury occurred gradually.
As reported, Army said Steen's concussion is the culmination of several hits recently, starting with illegal check by Ottawa's Zach Smith.

Armstrong's news seems to refute that. This is a disappointing blow to what was a fantastic season for Steen, who is second in the NHL with 24 goals and 38 points in 35 games. The injury parallels his struggles in 2012, when he missed 26 straight games with a concussion and had to undergo the same treatment that Paul Kariya underwent during his concussion-plagued career. The Blues can only hope for a speedier recovery this time around.
