Rogers has purchased the naming rights to the Edmonton Oilers new arena.

The Edmonton Oilers are expected to announce that Rogers has purchased the naming rights to the franchise's future arena in downtown Edmonton, according to John MacKinnon of the Edmonton Journal on Tuesday afternoon. Rexall Sports Corporation, the group that owns the Oilers, is scheduled to make a major announcement regarding the arena at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
MacKinnon reports that the new arena will be dubbed Rogers Place. The Oilers’ current home is named Rexall Place. It remains unclear how much Rogers will pay the Oilers for the naming rights or how long the agreement runs, but whatever the case, the Oilers will retain 100 percent of the revenue generated from the deal, according to MacKinnon.
The Oilers signed a deal with Rogers in October as the official telecommunications sponsor of the team, which included marketing rights for the Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings and Rexall Place. Rogers also televises 60 regular season games per year under a regional television contract with the team.
The arena is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016 and is projected to cost $480 million.
