NHL schedule and starting goalies for Wednesday: Red Wings host Blues in Central showdown

The St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings will headline a three game night in the NHL on Wednesday.

There are only three games on tap in the NHL on Wednesday, with the headlining affair coming between the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings on NBC Sports Network.

This will mark the fourth of five meetings between the Central Division rivals this season, as well as the third game between the two over the last two weeks. Detroit has managed to register five goals in each of the last two meetings and St. Louis has been on a downswing.

This has prompted head coach Ken Hitchcock to start 22-year-old goaltender Jake Allen in his first career NHL start.

The Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames will play the late game and the Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Ottawa Senators in the lone Eastern Conference game of the night.
