Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers will not be playing Saturday night against the New York Islanders. He’s not hurt. He’s just not playing because he hasn’t been good at hockey lately.
Sabres vs. Islanders: Tyler Myers a healthy scratch for Buffalo
Tyler Myers won’t be in the Sabres lineup on Saturday.
“I was on the right track and then, it’s just all mental for me,” Myers told WGR 550. “I make a mistake, I’m too hard on myself and put too much pressure on myself in the long run. So I think I just need to relax, take a step back and start enjoying myself.”
Andrej Sekera will check back into the lineup after missing Thursday’s game with a foot injury. The insertion of Sekera allows coach Lindy Ruff to send the message to Myers -- the second year in a row he’s sent such a message.
Myers is a league-worst minus-9 so far this season. He’s been getting second-pairing minutes in the 11 games he’s played thus far behind Buffalo’s top pairing of Christian Ehrhoff and Jordan Leopold.
