NHL trade rumors: Could Phoenix move Keith Yandle?

* The Coyotes begin today's action at 30 points in 31 games, sitting in 11th place but just two points out of the top eight. They recently resigned defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to a six-year, $33 million extension. What does that mean for the Coyotes other stud defender, Keith Yandle? The Coyotes may put him on the block, but according to Mark Spector of Sportsnet, it would not be in a move to dump salary. Spector believes that, while the NHL (who still own the team) have allowed the Coyotes to spend as much as they're comfortable with, they aren't pressuring the team to purge salary. Any deal made with Yandle involved would have to bring the Coyotes -- 19th in the league in scoring -- some offensive help.

* Spector also reports that the NHL goalie market at the trade deadline could be more than just Roberto Luongo, whose contract is thought to be hard to move to say the very least. Senators goaltender Ben Bishop and Kings netminder Jonathan Bernier are thought to be much more movable goaltenders. Spector claims Ottawa would like a pick and a prospect for Bishop, while the Kings would want an NHL defensemen capable of helping out their injured defensive corps. Bishop, in that case, is seen as the more likely trade, which one would only assume could happen if Craig Anderson returns to regular duty.

* No other big names floating around in today's rumors, but a lot of stuff on whether or not teams will make moves at the deadline. Joe Haggerty of CSN New England says the Bruins may look for a depth forward or defenseman, but GM Peter Chiarelli is finding the market difficult. Meanwhile, Ansar Khan reports that the Red Wings may make a move if they remain competitive over the next six games, with Josh Cooper of The Tennessean saying the same about the Predators and their upcoming homestand.
