The Penguins added Jarome Iginla to their lineup on Saturday afternoon, but they quickly lost another star player to injury. Captain Sidney Crosby took a puck to the face off a Brooks Orpik slapper in the first period of Pittsburgh’s game against the New York Islanders and will not return to the game.
Sidney Crosby injury: Penguins captain hit in face by puck, leaves game
Sidney Crosby took a puck to the face and will not return to Pittsburgh’s game vs. the Islanders on Saturday.

It’s not exactly clear where the puck caught Crosby -- certainly on the face, but it’s a little unclear precisely where. A pool of blood formed on the ice and Crosby stayed down for several minutes before skating to the ice under his own power. There’s been no update on his condition since he left the game, other than that he won’t return.
Crosby leads the NHL in points with 56 points in 35 games, 10 ahead of Steven Stamkos.
