* Pierre LeBrun believes the Boston Bruins could make a push for an impact player before the April 3 trade deadline. With names like Daniel Alfredsson, Danny Briere and Jarome Iginla floating around as possible targets, LeBrun thinks the Bruins might also make a push for Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry.
NHL trade rumors: Bruins looking at forwards; time for Avalanche to trade Paul Stastny?
A daily round-up of trade rumors in the NHL (remember, rumors are not reports). Thursday’s edition includes the Boston Bruins’ pursuit of forwards, the Colorado Avalanche’s log-jam at center and the Minnesota Wild’s deadline plans.

However, Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli made an attempt to temper expectations, via ESPN.com:
“Just because we have cap space doesn’t mean we’ll make a blockbuster trade,” Chiarelli said Tuesday.
* With much of the focus on what the Bruins could do to improve their top-six , Joe Haggerty of CSN New England believes the team might need to make alterations to their third line, via CSN New England:
It’s time for Chiarelli to redouble the efforts to bring in a forward that gives the Bruins coveted forward depth they’re accustomed to rolling on all four lines. Otherwise the third line could become a chronic weakness for a Bruins that can’t afford to protect a soft underbelly when it comes to the playoffs.
Haggerty has proposed players like Philadelphia Flyers forward Ruslan Fedotenko or Pittsburgh Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy as possible targets.
* The Colorado Avalanche were expected to trade Ryan O'Reilly and, by many accounts, still plan to do so. Of course, they will have to wait a full year to the day that they matched the Calgary Flames' offer sheet to do so. With that in mind, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post believes the franchise needs to do everything in their power to showcase O'Reilly's abilities to drive up his price.
In order to do so, he believes the team needs to free up space in the top-six and proposes it might be time to trade Paul Stastny, via Denver Post:
I think Stastny is the guy they need to seriously consider moving. No offense to him either, but if I’m the GM of this team, I go with Duchene and O’Reilly as my top two centers and try to get something for Stastny while I still can.
* Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher is determining what kind of moves he will be making at the deadline. The team has several pending unrestricted free agents who potentially could be playoff rentals for contending teams if the Wild elects not to re-sign them, via the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
If unsigned, Matt Cullen, Niklas Backstrom and Pierre-Marc Bouchard can become completely free July 1 and are the type of players who playoff contenders typically pursue as "rentals" at the deadline. Cal Clutterbuck, Jared Spurgeon and Justin Falk can become restricted free agents.
