PITTSBURGH -- There’s no doubt that after a back-and-forth first 40 minutes, Yale and UMass-Lowell sat back and played a much more conservative hockey game in the third period.

We’re headed to overtime in Pittsburgh with a berth in the national championship game on the line for UMass-Lowell and Yale.
Both teams created a handful of chances in the final 20 minutes of regulation, but neither really seemed to threaten with consistency. Yale seemed to get the puck deep and create zone time a bit more often than Lowell did, but even they didn’t get many tough pucks on UML goalie Connor Hellebucyk.
With overtime on the horizon and a berth in the national championship game on the line, will we see a more uptempo pace in the extra session, or will the teams continue to play a conservative game?
The winner takes on either Quinnipiac or St. Cloud State, and the 8 p.m. ET scheduled start time will be pushed back thanks to overtime in our first game.
