Sharks vs. Red Wings: Logan Couture ties game with backhand roofer

Couture pulled off a very difficult shot to beat Jimmy Howard.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose Sharks were down by a goal in the third period when young star Logan Couture scored with this beauty to tie the game:

This was Couture’s sixteenth goal of the year. He’s second on the Sharks in scoring with 29 points, and has been one of the most consistent players offensively on a team that went through a prolonged scoring slump earlier in the year.

The score stayed tied through the rest of regulation and overtime, and the Sharks won the game in the shootout on a Patrick Marleau goal.

This was the final regular-season game between these two rivals before Detroit moves to the Eastern Conference next season, a fact which has some looking back fondly at the history the two clubs have shared.
