This morning, news came out of Toronto Maple Leafs camp that Mikhail Grabovski was missing practice with an issue that head coach Randy Carlyle would address. It naturally set off a social media firestorm of what could be wrong with the forward.
Mikhail Grabovski misses Leafs practice, undergoing tests for gastrointestinal illness

The answer, it turns out, was rather serious in nature. After the Leafs’ shootout loss in New York on Wednesday, Grabovski stayed behind in the Big Apple to undergo testing for what Carlyle termed a “gastrointestinal illness.” Carlyle said that Grabovski has been dealing with the problem for a couple of years, but has been losing weight recently. The head coach does not know if the Belarusian forward will play when the Leafs host Montreal on Saturday night.
The 29-year-old put up consecutive 50-point seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, but has struggled to land top-six icetime and put up top-six points this season, as he’s only garnered eight goals and seven assists in 40 games. He’s been limited to 11 minutes or less in Toronto’s last two games.
