Joffrey Lupul injury: Maple Leafs forward sustained concussion

In the following days, the Maple Leafs stated that Lupul had not sustained a concussion and expressed that the organization was more concerned about whiplash. Ultimately, it was determined that their initial diagnosis was incorrect.

Lupul was able to return to practice on Friday but had not been cleared for contact. He last experienced concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday and has been able to skate in four consecutive days without any issue beginning on Thursday. Carlyle stated on Monday afternoon that the forward would be a game-time decision and would need to feel 110 percent in order to play.

The extent of his night spanned 1:40 of ice-time over three shifts.

Lupul was unable to participate in practice on Friday. Carlyle stated that Lupul went for an evaluation earlier in the morning and his ability to travel with the team to New Jersey has yet to be decided. He refused to label the injury a concussion.
