Ryane Clowe injury: Rangers forward leaves game in 2nd period

Clowe had to be helped off the ice by teammates and will not return to action tonight.

Midway through the game between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes, Rangers forward Ryane Clowe appeared to suffer a right leg injury while his team was on the power play. He had to be helped off the ice by teammates and went straight to the dressing room. The Rangers announced that he wouldn't be returning to the game shortly thereafter.

The Rangers are battling to clinch a playoff spot, and losing Clowe for any significant amount of time would hurt. They’ll most likely head into the playoffs facing the first or second seed in the East, and will need the physical edge that power-forward Clowe brings to the team.

Since being acquired from the San Jose Sharks at the trade deadline, Clowe has three goals and five assists through 11 games.
