Jason Demers injury: Sharks defenseman to miss Game 1
Demers’ sprained ankle continues to be a problem.

San Jose defenseman Jason Demers will not be in the lineup for the Sharks when they open up their best-of-seven series in Vancouver on Wednesday. Demers -- who is still recovering from a sprained ankle he suffered April 18 against the Minnesota Wild -- did not practice on Monday. The team will go with either Scott Hannan or rookie Matt Tennyson in his place.
Sharks coach Todd McLellan seemed to suggest, however, that Demers could be ready for Game 2 when he was describing his defense situation. “We have Tennyson, who we think is a puck-mover, and we have Scottie Hannan, who has a lot of experience and he is a heavy, physical d-man,” he said on Monday. “So, we have options there for Game 1. Then, maybe by Game 2, we have two puck movers and one heavier guy if [Demers] is ready to go.”
Demers has produced a goal and two assists in 22 games for San Jose this season.
