Ducks vs. Red Wings Game 7 Update: Detroit leads after 1 thanks to Abdelkader

The Ducks came up empty on 2 power plays, and the Red Wings lead 2-1 after the 1st.

The first Game 7 of the 2013 post-season is underway between the Anaheim Ducks and the Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit has the edge after the first period.

The Red Wings would open the scoring early in the first with this goal from captain Henrik Zetterberg at 1:49:

The Ducks would tie the game at 13:48 when Emerson Etem, the rookie out of Long Beach, CA, beat Jimmy Howard:

The Ducks would have two power-plays in the period, but the second one backfired and resulted in this shorthanded goal for Justin Abdelkader late in the period:

The Ducks had the edge in shots 12-11 through the first 20 minutes. If Anaheim wins they face the Kings in the second round, while if Detroit holds on to their lead they will take on the Blackhawks.
