After a surprise offensive outburst from Cody Franson early in the game, the Bruins came into the third period trailing by a single goal. It didn't take long, though, for the game to get away from them. The Bruins were stunned only 2:09 into the final frame by a Phil Kessel goal that put them down by two:

The Leafs scored twice early in the third, but Boston’s big guns came back to tie the game.


Toronto’s Nazem Kadri would score again for the Leafs three minutes later to give Toronto a 4-1 barely five minutes into the third period:
As time ticked away in the final period, the Bruins slowly clawed their way back into it. Nathan Horton scored midway through the period, and Milan Lucic would get another goal with under two minutes remaining.
Finally, with less then a minute remaining and the season on the line, Patrice Bergeron would get the tying goal for the Bruins on this wild deflection on a shot from the blue-line:
