The Los Angeles Kings opened the second period against the San Jose Sharks with a 1-0 lead, after Jeff Carter scored early in the first. The Kings would extend their advantage with another early goal, as Drew Doughty scored on a power play after a nice backhand pass from Brad Richardson:

The Sharks finally found a way to beat Jonathan Quick, and the score is tied at 2 after 2 periods.


But at 9:47 of the second period, Patrick Marleau would finally solve Jonathan Quick on this beautiful passing play:
Marleau's goal came assisted by Joe Thornton and Logan Couture. It was the first goal they managed to score on Quick in...quite a while:
It took just under 100 minutes (99.47 to be precise) for the Sharks to get own past Quick - and they practically passed it into the net.

Once they scored their first goal, it didn't take too long for the Sharks to get another. Scott Gomez set up a Brad Stuart blast to tie the game, 2-2, at 14:21.
Things took an ugly turn late in the period when Jeff Carter took a penalty for charging after this hit on Marc-Edouard Vlasic:
Vlasic went straight to the dressing room after the hit.
The Sharks led in shots, 24-13, after 40 minutes of play.
