Midway through the second period of an intensely physical game between the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks, Vancouver's Jannik Hansen hit T.J. Galiardi up against the boards in the corner.
Canucks vs. Sharks: Was this hit by Hansen on Galiardi a head shot?
T.J. Galiardi was rattled by this hit that slammed his head into the glass.

There was no penalty on the play, though the Sharks’ team and coaching staff were shouting for one. Galiardi was shaken up by the hit, and got some treatment from the medical trainer on the San Jose bench.
Will this hit garner a review by the league? It’s tough to say. This is certainly a “head shot” in the strictest sense of the word -- the main point of contact was Galiardi’s head -- but it also doesn’t look like Hansen was trying to do what he ended up doing. This might have just been a bit of bad luck and bad positioning for both players, but that hasn’t stopped the NHL from handing out supplemental discipline in the past.
