The Buffalo Sabres have come to terms on a one-year contract extension with forward John Scott, according to multiple reports on Monday morning.

The Buffalo Sabres have reportedly extended the contract of John Scott.

Renaud Lavoie of RDS reports the extension will pay Scott $750,000 for the duration of the 2013-14 season. The 30-year-old forward was coming off a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Sabres that was signed the previous offseason. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent this July.
Scott is a physical forward who is known as a fighter. Over the course of 180 career NHL regular season games, he has participated in 29 fights. In 34 games during the 2013 season, the 6’8, 270-pound enforcer engaged in seven bouts while averaging 5:29 of ice-time per game (the lowest total of any player on the Sabres roster). He registered 69 penalty minutes and did not record a point.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent, Scott has spent time with the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers. He has five career points (one goal, four assists) and 305 penalty minutes.
