2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs nightly GIF recap: Senators stumble in Game 4 rout

Ottawa got blown out by a lot of GIFs on Wednesday.

The key to winning a hockey game is simple: score more GIFs than the other team. The Senators learned that the hard way in Game 4. Ottawa tripped all over itself in a 7-3 whipping at the hands of a red-hot Penguins team — and we've got the GIFs to prove it.

Early on, it looked like Ottawa was well on its way to tying the series. Milan Michalek was so relieved that Brenden Morrow wasn't playing that he scored a goal.

Meanwhile, Craig Anderson was just teasing the Penguins with scoring opportunities.

Tomas Vokoun was not nearly as impressive early. Kyle Turris was the only thing keeping this rebound from floating away into the sky.

But then the second period began, and the game’s momentum completely flipped. Suddenly, the Penguins couldn’t stop scoring goals.

Things only got worse in the third period. It didn't help that Sidney Crosby went into Magician Mode on Anderson.

I’m not quite sure how you’re supposed to defend that one.

Or this.

Goodness gracious. Pittsburgh scored four times in the third en rout (see what I did there?) to a 7-3 win. Facing a 3-1 deficit to a dangerous Penguins team firing on all cylinders, nobody would blame Ottawa if they just did this over and over in Game 5.
