Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller has returned home after spending the night in Montreal General Hospital, according to Renaud Lavoie of RDS.

Eller was hospitalized after being administered a hit from Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Thursday night. The Montreal forward was knocked unconscious on the play and remained motionless in a pool of his own blood for a few minutes. He required a stretcher to be removed from the ice.
As of this writing, it remains unclear what Eller’s status is or what kind of injuries he potentially sustained on the play.
Gryba was given a five-minute major for interference, as well as a game misconduct. The NHL Department of Player Safety has requested a phone hearing with Gryba on Friday afternoon.
Considering Game 2 of the series will resume in Montreal on Friday night, it is expected that a ruling will be announced sometime Friday afternoon.
