Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba has been suspended two games by the NHL's Department of Player Safety, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

The NHL has suspended Eric Gryba for his hit on Lars Eller.

Gryba administered a hit to Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal on Thursday night, which resulted in Eller losing consciousness. The forward remained on the ice motionless for a few minutes in a pool of blood. He required the aide of a stretcher to be removed from the playing surface.
Eller spent the night at Montreal General Hospital and was released on Friday morning. He is reportedly in good condition.
Gryba was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct.
Since the incident, debate has ensued about whether the hit was a legal play with an unfortunate result or a predatory act on a defenseless player. Obviously, the league felt Gryba erred in judgement and punished him accordingly.
