Bruins vs. Maple Leafs Game 3 Update: Disastrous 2nd period for Toronto

Mistakes and misfortune have the Maple Leafs facing a three-goal deficit after two periods.

USA TODAY Sports

The second period began with the Toronto Maple Leafs trailing the Boston Bruins by a single goal. Tuukka Rask was sharp in the period, as he has been all night. He has 28 saves through the first 40 minutes, including this beauty on Joffrey Lupul:

After some great pressure in the first period, Jaromir Jagr finally got on the scoreboard for Boston as he stripped the puck from Toronto's Ryan O`Byrne and passed it to Rich Peverley for Boston's second goal of the evening.

Toronto would press back, cutting the lead in half with this goal from Jake Gardiner on the power play:

But the Bruins scored again less than a minute later, as Nathan Horton got his third goal in as many playoff games:

Before the period was over, a disastrous giveaway by the Leafs would hand the Bruins a shorthanded goal, and Toronto has a steep hill to climb in the third, as they are facing a 4-1 deficit.
