Senators vs. Canadiens Game 5 Update: Controversial goal puts Ottawa up by 2

A shorthanded goal for the Senators was the only tally of the middle period.

The second period began with the Montreal Canadiens trailing the Ottawa Senators 2-1 and needing a victory to avoid elimination. Midway through the period Montreal was looking to tie the game on the power play, but instead went down 3-1 after this controversial short-handed goal from the Senators:

The Canadiens weren't happy with what they felt might have been interference by Kyle Turris preventing Peter Budaj from making the save after he was knocked into the crease. The goal was reviewed, but not overturned. The Senators took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

The Canadiens lead in shots 28-18 after 40 minutes, but Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson has been tough for them to solve. They'll need a big third period to avoid a disappointing first-round elimination.
