When it was determined that the San Jose Sharks would face the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs, some speculated that the series could potentially determine more than just who advanced to the second round.
Sharks extend contract of Todd McLellan, according to report
The San Jose Sharks have reportedly extended the contract of head coach Todd McLellan.

In hindsight, those people were right.
Following a sweep by the Sharks, the Canucks decided to part ways with head coach Alain Vigneault. Following a second-round exit that required seven games against the division rival Los Angeles Kings, San Jose decided to extend the contract of head coach Todd McLellan, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Wednesday morning.
The terms of the extension were not available at the time of this writing.
McLellan has acted as the Sharks’ bench boss since the 2008-09 season and has led the team to the playoffs each year under his tenure. In 376 career regular season games, McLellan has compiled a 220-108-48 record. In addition, he has registered a 27-27 record in the playoffs.
