Bruins vs. Blackhawks Game 1 update: Lucic and Saad score, Boston leads, 2-1

Boston and Chicago each had a goal in the second period, and the Bruins lead, 2-1, after 40 minutes.

The lone goal in the first period between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks came from Milan Lucic, who scored his first goal in the last eight games. Less than a minute into the second period, Lucic struck again to give the Bruins a two-goal lead:

The Blackhawks would answer back a few minutes later, when rookie Brandon Saad scored on a one-timer:

This was Saad's first career playoff goal. It was also the first goal Tuukka Rask had allowed on his past 70 shots.

The Blackhawks had a chance to tie the game midway through the period when they had a 5-on-3 power play, but a strong penalty kill from the Bruins limited Chicago’s chances and preserved Boston’s lead.

The Blackhawks led in shots, 24-17, at the second intermission.
