Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton was able to skate during the team's practice on Friday afternoon. Horton sustained what is assumed to be a shoulder injury against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night.

The injury occurred in the first overtime period and came as a result of Horton battling in front of the Chicago goal. While the contact seemed innocuos in nature, the Boston forward appeared to be in a considerable amount of pain. The team officially diagnosed him as day-to-day.

According to a report from WEEI.com, Horton has been battling a chronic shoulder subluxation since engaging Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jarome Iginla in a fight during a regular season game on April 20. Horton left the game after the altercation and missed the final five games of the regular season.

Citing sources with knowledge of the situation, WEEI reports that Horton’s shoulder has regularly popped out of its socket over the course of the 2013 playoffs. He is expected to undergo a procedure to tighten the socket at the conclusion of the Stanley Cup.

Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday night in Chicago. Horton's status has yet to be updated. During Friday's practice, Horton and Tyler Seguin took line rushes with David Krejci and Milan Lucic. Seguin replaced Horton on the line after the injury.
