The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks could be without key players for Monday night’s Game 6 in Boston.
As of Monday morning, it remains unclear whether Toews will be available for Game 6 after sustaining an upper-body injury in Game 5 on Saturday night. While the team has yet to identify what is specifically wrong with the captain, many assume that he was concussed after being hit by Bruins' defender Johnny Boychuk.
Head coach Joel Quenneville stated that team is hopeful that Toews will be available on Monday night. How effective he will be in such a circumstance remains to be seen.
Conversely, the Bruins have a similar situation with forward Patrice Bergeron. Largely considered one of the key components of the Bruins' roster, Bergeron was unable to finish Game 5 due to an unidentified injury. After registering 5:17 of ice-time in the first period, Bergeron only logged 49 seconds in the second stanza. He ultimately left the game to go to the hospital. It has been reported that he could be dealing with a spleen injury, according to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet. However, Bob McKenzie of TSN is under the impression that it might be a kidney issue.
Whatever the case might be, Bergeron’s availability on Monday night is in doubt.
Needless to say, Monday’s pre-game media availability and skate will be anticipated occurrences to gauge the chances of either player dressing for Game 6.
