The Chicago Blackhawks intend to place Steve Montador and Rostislav Olesz on waivers with the intent of extending them compliance buyouts in the event they're not claimed by another team, general manager Stan Bowman announced on Thursday morning.

The Chicago Blackhawks plan to part ways with Steve Montador and Rostislav Olesz, while Dave Bolland is rumored to be available via trade.

Montador has two-years remaining on a four-year contract that carries an annual average value of $2.75 million against the salary cap until the completion of the 2014-15 season. Olesz has one-year remaining on a six-year contract that levies a $3.1 million annual allocation. By parting ways with the two players, Chicago will shed a little over $5 million in cap space, which gives the club $7 million to operate with this summer, according to CapGeek.com.
Due to the declining nature of the salary cap to $64.3 million for the 2013-14 season, all teams were allotted two buyouts to clear contracts off their books without penalty. The Blackhawks will have used both buyouts if the two players remain unclaimed via waivers.
However, Montador and Olesz might not be the only players on the move.
Forward Dave Bolland is available via trade, according to reports by Bob McKenzie and Pierre LeBrun of TSN. Bolland has one-year remaining on a five-year contract that carries an annual average value of $3.3 million. He scored the game-winning goal in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
