The Minnesota Wild have engaged in discussions with pending-restricted free agent Cal Clutterbuck on a contract extension, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN on Thursday morning.

The Minnesota Wild are discussing an extension with Cal Clutterbuck, while reportedly deciding not to retain two unrestricted free agents.

Clutterbuck finished the final year of a three-year, $4.2 million contract that carried an annual average value of $1.4 million against the salary cap. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent come July 5. While discussions have been broached about an extension, McKenzie reports Clutterbuck could be available via trade and that the Wild have engaged in discussions with other teams about the 25-year-old forward.
Clutterbuck contributed 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 42 games in 2013.
In addition, McKenzie reports that pending-unrestricted free agent forwards Matt Cullen and Pierre-Marc Bouchard are no expected to be retained by the team.
