Blackhawks injuries: Team has laundry list of post-Final ailments

One of the most interesting developments that come with the end of the NHL season is when player injuries are confirmed. The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks did so on Thursday.

Several members of the Chicago Blackhawks finished the 2013 Stanley Cup Final with injuries, according to head coach Joel Quenneville on Thursday morning.

Forward Dave Bolland played through wrist and groin issues, which is not surprising, considering many speculated that he was laboring with injuries. Bryan Bickell sustained a knee sprain in the deciding game of the Western Conference Final against the Los Angeles Kings. Apparently, the extent of the injury was severe enough that Quenneville wasn't sure Bickell would be available for the Stanley Cup Final.

Andrew Shaw was obviously injured in the deciding game of the Final when he was struck in the face with a shot attempt from Shawn Thornton, but the forward also sustained a broken rib against the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Semifinal and still contributed well beyond the series.

Finally, it was revealed that Johnny Oduya and Marian Hossa also dealt with injuries. Hossa missed Game 2 of the Stanley Cup with an unidentified injury. The forward stated on Thursday that he is having issues with his back. It remains undetermined whether he will require surgery to repair the issue. The nature of Oduya's injury was not released.
