The Chicago Blackhawks will be celebrating their second Stanley Cup championship in four years on Friday with a parade through the city. While the day will focus on the team’s triumphs, the Blackhawks’ ownership group also took the opportunity to pay homage to their opponents in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
Blackhawks take out full-page ad in ‘Globe’ thanking city of Boston
The Blackhawks continue to build upon their rehabilitated public standing when they published a full-page ad in the Boston Globe, thanking the city for its hospitality during the Stanley Cup Final.

Team owner Rocky Wirtz and CEO John McDonough took out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe on Friday morning, thanking the Boston Bruins and the city of Boston for their hospitality during the six-game series:

The decision to do so is yet another example of the drastic shift the organization has gone through over the years in focusing on the importance of public relations. Under the management of Wirtz’s father, Bill Wirtz, the team did not televise home games and neglected historic members of the franchise, such as Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita.
Since Rocky has taken over, those miscues and failures have largely been rectified. The result has been the resurgence of the franchise and a favorable public perception. Not to mention, two championships after a drought that lasted 50 years.
